Penina was born in New Zealand and brought up in Sydney and Auckland. After school she graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Penina has lived all over the world including a four-year stint in Japan.
Penina's life changed in the summer of 2004 when she moved to the mines in Western Australia with her husband. The silence of remote living propelled Penina to follow her creative dreams.
In 2008 Penina self-published her first book Table Tucker and then secured a publishing deal.
Since self-publishing her book Penina went back to work on the Mornington Peninsula to gain further skills in graphic design, communications and website development.
More recently Penina took a break from work to be a stay-at-home mum with her second child, baby girl Coco. During this time Penina has been developing mobile apps, writing savings tips and building the Savings Room.
In the background Penina is documenting her life-changing city, desert, country and sea-change with hubby Richard. It is a quirky look at what happens to a city couple when they are plonked in the middle of outback Australia with no money. She hopes to publish it in the future and write a screenplay for it.
