Pretraveller is a travel blog to help people travel with confidence and give them ideas and inspirations for travel.
The Awesome Australian 2WD Road Trip series provides a great overview of Australian 2WD road trip options. Anne also curates all of the Pretraveller articles so they remain current with the most recent information and links.
Anne commenced Pretraveller in 2011 with an aim to enable people to travel with confidence through better travel planning and also to inspire people to travel.
The Pretraveller blog has a range of articles across the topics of Travel Planning, Departure Preparation, Travel Perspectives, Travel Gear, Australian Experiences, Family Travel and Road Trips.
Anne Sutherland-Smith is the founder of the Pretraveller Travel Blog. Anne is an aeronautical engineer who also loves to travel. As a result Anne brings key skills of planning, project management and being a spreadsheet queen to the joy of travel planning.
Anne promotes a balanced approach to travel planning with a focus on exploration of affordable travel options within budget constraints. On Anne’s first big trip to Europe she borrowed money to cover half the trip costs. She then spent two years paying off the loan and then decided to never borrow money for travel ever again. Anne and her husband now save money specifically for travel and then plan the trip to match the budget.
Anne and her family currently reside in Sydney Australia. With three children aged 9, 7 and 5 years old travel is even more expensive these days so her family typically does a bigger trip approximately every two years with a lot of local travel options in the interim periods. Their most recent big trips were to Outback New South Wales and New Zealand.
Anne and her family are currently planning their next big trip for 2015 which may be to either a more distant Australian destination such as Central Australia but could also be to Japan, Vietnam or New Zealand.
